INTERVIEW FASHION DESIGNER HARRY HALIM
The woman is getting stronger and adventurous in trying new dangerous cut silhouette on woman body, less fragile but they are still very dark inside in a modern way.
- What were your main inspiration for you new collection?
Harry Halim fall/winter 2010-2011 collection is presenting new dark sensualism and masculine yet feminine. I want it something very urban and romantic collection at the same time. Contrasting between leather and silk. and playing with different way of using leather with full of industrial details on the garment. See the touch erotic through the drape of clothes in a modern darkness where about romance and regret, dark beauty in the modern way and sensuality and glamour meet.
- I realized in the show most of your garments were white, is there any particular reason behind it?
Fall/winter collections mostly are black and dark colours but I would like to bring the opposite of it. And I would like to show not only black colours can reflecting darkness and mysterious.
- Your work reminded us a little bit of Christopher Kane, where you influenced by his latest collections?
Not at all.
Just to know a little bit more about yourself, few quick questions:
- When did you decided that you wanted to be a fashion designer and why?
After I went to a wrong course as Graphic Designer. I wanted to be a Surgeon.
- What was the best advice that you got in your life?
Always listen to you heart, it will never wrong.
- What was the worst advice that you got in your life?
I try to ignored all the bad advices
- A vice?
Keep fighting and never look back.
- Your favorite color?
I am in the mood of nomadic colours
- Short story/memory from your childhood?
I used to paint my sister’s dolls face with marker and hide it under with other toys.
- One person that you admire?
My mom
- A person (dead or alive) that you would like to meet

- What was the best moment of your life?
When love is in the air
- And the worst?
When all the hardworks didn’t really work out.
- What has being your biggest achievement so far?
Showing my defile in Paris Fashion Week.
- Where do you see/want to see yourself in a couples years time?
They said 2012 probably is end of the world. We will never know.
- And at last but no at least, since our magazine is heavily followed by fashion students, what advice you give to young fashion designers that are starting in the fashion world creating their own collections?
Try to participate in all kind of important fashion contests, the experience of making 1 collection, is doubled experiences given from school in 1 semester. And keep trying, nothing is impossible in this world.
